- Ardingly College is the school which we sprang from. It is an English public school just south of the village of Ardingly, in Sussex. It was founded in 1858 by Nathaniel Woodard, a Victorian with a drive to improve educational opportunity, and a brilliant fund-raiser. Woodard established Ardingly ‘for the sons of poor clergy’, after Lancing and Hurstpierpoint.
- The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) is the organisation that supervises regular Freemasonry in England.
- The Metropolitan Grand Lodge (MetGL) is the body that runs Freemasonry in London.
Ardingly College Lodge is a London lodge, part of MetGL, and as such normally meets in London, except when, by dispensation, we hold our summer meeting at the school on OAs day. The MetGL web pages give a useful summary of what Freemasonry is all about, and answer many questions.
